fletchers puddle
« on: Jan 24, 2011, 02:04 PM »
I've been going up to fletchers pond for a few years now, usually only a weekend trip per year, and have not have a whole lot of luck besides an occasional hammer handle. Does anyone catch much there anymore? or is it all just talk of the good ole' days.

I was just up there this past weekend. We had 19 flags between the 2 of us on Saturday and Sunday. Only a few small perch and bluegills but some nice pike to be had.

If you don't get to em' quick they get caught up in the stumps...ranged from about 20" to 27" With average right around 24. Had a couple big ones on but lost one at the hole that was pry 35. It was a lot of fun....I was talking to some guys and they said the perch action doesn't really pick up until Feb...I dunno tho

Smythe, out in front of the public access and to the right towards Jack's Landing.  You have to pay to park at Jacks though.

Biggest problem up there, is continually checking your bait (tip-ups) to make sure they didn't get hooked up in some weeds.  Lots of hammer handles, but every year they pull off +44" pike.  Its a fun 'puddle' to play at.

Yeah, I think we're headed over there this weekend. Anybody know if there is anyone driving trucks out there yet?

Yeah there was about 16" of ice. Lots of trucks out there...just watch out for the pressure cracks
