might have been my mistake, I posted a few days ago and put #3 instead of the little res(#1), little res has wallys. #3 has trout much like toltec; rainbows, cutbows

Glad you're not a "lurker" anymore. there's more information on this site than you could read in any book. Good luck! @)

There are walleye in wheatland 3 that came from the river (wheatland 1?) back in the day and started spawning. There cant be many left from the low water years so they will take some time to rebuild their numbers.

I have never heard a word about eyes in #3, ever.  That would have to be one hell of a run up river and over dams to get to #3 from #1.  We're talking salmon style runs for that to happen.  I wouldn't waste time trying to target eyes up there, but it is a good trout lake.

One of my friends fished it with spinners for trout and started catching Walleye's .  He was a Game and Fish guy out of Cheyenne.. He never caught big numbers but a few each trip... I have not talked to him in a long time though.

Back in the day (mid 80's) I heard about Walleye coming out of there, but I never saw any.  But back then #3 was more mythical than anything else in my family.  Got to fish it briefly one April day and lost a hog rainbow.  In the early 90's when we started icing it regularly we never saw any walleye.  Dunno if there'd be any left.

I caught 16" walleye thru the ice 2002 and was told they hadn't stocked it with walleye in several years.  Assuming this was correct then there had to be some reproduction occurring.  We used to fish it alot, I couldn't imagine anyone targeting walleye with all the trout and carp in the lake.

Anybody got any recent reports for fishing here?  Was thinking about hitting it next superbowl weekend.

I caught one from the float tube on a fly off the boat ramp area before it got too low the last time - maybe 6-8 years ago.  It was an 8" lunker.  I wasn't surprised since I had heard there were a few in there.  Natural reproduction??  In that Gaud forsaken place of stagnant water....?

I caught a 15"er in open water and a 21"er thru the ice. Back a few years when the lake was getting low.

we caught 6 from shore with bait like about 8 years ago. pulled one out about 4 years ago when lake was really low. wouldnt be surprised if they make it in through the canal.
