I'm sure they do but what I'm looking for is do snowshoes keep you from sinking into the slop to begin with??

I wear my 32"Tubbs Snowshoes in deep snow and this sloppy crap. Keeps me up on top most of the time, definately makes draggin the gear out alot easier, instead of punching postholes. I tend to jig mostly and it makes it a lil awkward when gettin on and off the bucket, gutta make sure ya don`t step on a rod etc. Too big to go in and outta the portable wearing. Sometimes I wear em out and drill a buncha jiggin holes and then make paths between the holes with the shoes. Then I`ll take em off till I drag the gear in at the end of the day. They are worth it just for the draggin, and the last 3 trips out, I have worn them all day. Went out yesterday and the crust on top would hold ya (just boots/no shoes) . But there were drifts/areas with deep powder and then other spots ya needed creepers on, there was no winning! Should be solidified soon here in NH. There was 4-5 inches of crusty ice/snow, 3-4 inches of slush/water and then 6-8inches of decent ice. Made for wet drilling. I might actually have to put the auger extension on if this snow keeps up.

Thank you DasRottweiler that was what I wanted to know, our lakes due to lake effect snow become real s&%t holes when the snow starts and it's a slow go. Thank you for answering the question.

Skipper, I posted a similar question in the "general chit chat" forum a week or so ago.
Do a search for "snowshoes" and - am sure you will find it.
Good luck.

Paul
