Showdown 5.6

Has anyone used a Showdown 5.6?  A friend of mine is thinking about getting one and would like some comments from someone who has used one.  I tried to talk him into a Vex or Marcum, but he doesn't have the cash right now and wants to get something he can afford now.  Do they do a decent job for the price?

Just got mine back having the updated 5.6 installed. Really liked the original, hope the update works as well. Good Luck.

I like the Showdown.  It does everything I need.  Had mine updated to the 5.6 and think it's worth it.  It got rid of the clutter that used to show up near the surface, and the false bottom readings you would sometimes get when the signal bounced back down from the ice.

just got mine this year, so far so good, the larger trans. is the duel beam, not really needed for where i fish, deep water it would be good, i fish bout 10 to 30 feet, mine is nice, i like it

i got the 5.6 and had some issue's with it and got ahold of the company and they had me send it in and they fixed it and got it back to me really fast! they stand behind there products!

I got mine Brandnew in October 2010 and I love it! I was use to a vexilar because that's what my dad has and what I would bum off him when I could but went with the Showdown because of the $ and don't regret it a bit! The zoom feature is outstanding, and so far it has outfished my Dad's vexilar hahaha but any electronics are better than NO electronics that is one thing I do know for sure!

No.  When you upgrade the software you get back the same transducer that you sent in.

I haD AN INCREDBLE DAY WITH MY SHOWNDOWN! This definitely picks up fish and now I know when bass are attacking or the smaller dashes (perch/crappie) are attacking my jig on the colume screen..  the more I use this thing, the more I love it btw, a tip to those who want to keep the softpack from freezing to the ice /water around the hole.. I use a frisbee as a base when conditions call because this thing goes with me to every hole I jig thank you Marcum guys for a wonderful fish finder

you need to use to featured sensitivity button , also range button for depth. If you needed a 5.6 upgrade for this reason, I have no idea, all I know is I bought this new in december and finally using it with great success.
