well this is the one i have been working on forever! it seems glass rattles want to explode when hot lead hits them and the lead balls inside turn into a really quiet ...blob
but i finally figured it out and here's the result.
2 models. one "lite" and 1 heavy. hope you enjoy the pics as there are MANY HOURS that went into these two!!
here's the light version: HR1-Bomb!

small and rattles! this is the light version.
a couple finished ones.

the pics don't show the translucent colors just the base!
see what fish under the ice think of rattles as i dont think they have seen many this size

All I can say is WOW they do look great. But I think if I was a fish I wouldn't like to live in the lakes you fish because i would have to eat them jigs.

Great looking jigs, they should work great. Did you put something the size of the tubes into the mold, then remove it then slide the tube in and glue it?.

A-Bomb, Not trying to intrude on your thread about your new jigs. But rattle tubes also work great on RAPALA JIGS.

I been useing the same rattle tubes for 10-15 years on my rapala jigs, since they came out. The #3, 5, and 7's there's only room for one rattle but on the larger #9 I put 2 . I simply scrape off a concave or V shaped spot on the top, right behind the line tie. I like the glass ones better than the plastic, they sound better. I ruff up the glass so the glue will stick then I hot glue them down in the concave or V slot. I have had some last for years without the tube coming off. I also have used shrink tube to hold them on. Years ago I emailed Rapala and told them I had a great idea to improve their Rapala Ice jigs and they never replied. Of course I never told them what it was.

I always wondered if adding the tubes to the jigs would effect the jigs darting motion. 3-4 years ago I got a underwater camera and I have to say they work the same. The tubes must replace the weight of the part I scrape off cause they hang level.

definatly help on the jigging raps!!

i just couldnt find a place to scrape off any lead on a jig as small as i wanted. kinda whittled down to nothing so i just made these. i know in the summer a tube jig with a rattle will smoke a quiet tube...somedays..somda ys its the oposite.

definatly not the final answer but another tool to have at our disposal!

A-bomb those look great!!! Wish I had the talent to make those! Look like they would tear up the crappies and perch! Wish I had those on Erie last week! Would have worked great on those perch!!!

What is the size of the hooks? How many grams do those weigh? (Yes, I assumed that you already have a postal scale.) Got any tungsten projects in the works?

A-BOMB Good lookin stuff I have got to look at and fish some of it realy nice but A Bomb, H Bomb Lite, H Bomb Heavy, H Bomb and so on one day there will be some big dude at the front door from some goverment agency that nobody has ever heard of looking for some wack-o-jihadist and I realy hope that goes well for ya, you can always drop a bomb on em keep up the good work man.

as far as weight i have NO clue. heavy enough to sink...
hook size is sz 8
played with them today and found out how to make it rock front to back and by tapping the rod it rocks from the left to right . like a little puppet. i'll bring a rod to ziffles and we'll get a pitcher of water and play with it...oh yea,piggyn bring your scale

and the ones i caught weren't much bigger!!
