I gave HT a call about my 8 inch auger binding just before it breaks through. Nate at HT is sending me a 7 inch to try and see if it works better we discussed the possibility of the blade angle being wrong he will be looking into the issue as he is heading off to China to to visit their production facility. So I'll give them credit that they are willing to hear people out and try to make it right. I'll try to keep you posted on what happens with the 7 inch and Nate's responses to my review and he shipped the 7 inch out no charge. ;D

Went through 14" of clear hard ice today with my NEW 6" niles in 15 sec or less. buy the best and forget the rest. Also brought up a 27" big headed channel cat out of that hole on 4# test.

Well China doesn't have the quality control measures that we do they are very capable of making a quality product if the company they make them for will spend a little bit more.
Sorry to say it's really the fault of the companies here pinching pennies to maximize profits. I don't know about you guys but I spend a little more on a tool I will use a lot as long as the quality is there.
I bought the HT thinking it was a good quality product and I couldn't get my hands on a Strikemaster Lazer but now I am hearing the strikemasters are having similar issues maybe they come from the same plant in china  well I think I will be looking for a Nils this summer.

Strikemasters only have the problem when the blades are made in china. Most augers you buy new will have china blades, but if you call strikemaster and tell them the blades are dull china blades, they will send you sweden blades. Almost all replacements are sweden blades. The sweden ones are far better, really no comparing.

Does your HT auger have chinese blades? maybe they come from the same blade factory?

After checking with HT the blades are made in China also the replacement blades are as well. I let them know that your solution on the strikemaster was to replace the blades with a swedish blade.
Nate said he would see if he could source blades from a swedish source and was very surprised when I told him strikemaster sent you out a new set of blades no charge. I guess we will wait and see what happens.
