Jig and wedgie
« on: Sep 05, 2011, 08:43 AM »
Well whats your favorite jig and wedgie combo? Last year on Delavan i used a pink ratso no bait 1 to 2 foot beneath the ice in 5 to 6 fow. Others did better with jig and wedgie. Fish were holding just above the weeds, we could see them on camera. If you tried to fish deeper you would maybe catch some gills. Seems the crappie like it right under the ice there.  Any suggestions? getting ready to put in an order or two and was wondering what some of you use in this situation? By the way it was like that all season from what i saw and was told. Funny thing when they are biting many guys said they were down to their last jig a wedgie and would not come off of any. I don't blame them if that was the case. But a little help is always paid back. Its called karma.

gold fiska with a glow bead and pink or red wedgee. or bentley jig with a bubblegum color wedgee. little atom plastics among few other are hard to beat.  depends on the day. one day one will outproduce the other but dont forget dark blue motoroil purple . easiest thing is get one pack of every color and experiment. i am a firm believer with bentley jigs and fiskas those and some russian jigs are all i really ever use. feel free to send a pm to me with any other ? and i will help ya out :)

Also like a Gold horizontal (Fiska or Optic) jig during the day with a white tail. Prefer "Whips" or KJBs Tri-Tails over  wedgees, cheaper, more colors and seem more durable. At night Jammin Jigs Neon Tiger with a glow tail, red is very good locally at night. http://www.kjbplastics.com/joomla/ and http://www.icefishingtime.com/

Small Hali jigs or Northland mud bug  or gill getter jigs.  I also still use the typical Flu Flu feather round head type jigs.

I have had good luck with slender spoons,  little cecils,  and mimic minnows on the lakes that I fish.
