I purchased an 8" LM (Mora auger and blades) last year and it cut great. I did have a midseason repair done on the powerhead though. The clutch stopped dissengaging when idled down. I contacted them and and said ship it in. So I did and they replaced a few other things on it along with the clutch repair (the extras were'nt even part of the warranty).

My experiences with SM have been great, even with the breakdown. I dont have a reason to not recommend them, but I reserve the right to change my mind if that changes

i ordered a strikmaster mora from cabelas this fall and got it and never opened it untill i read this topic and wondered what blades are on this thing so took a blade off today and it doesn't say anything on the blades themselves, just says made in China on a sticker on the auger.so are these blades a piece of crap from china you think???so all i need to do is contact strikemaster and they will send me sweden blades????wish i knew this crap before i got one, woulda got a nils.
went out for my first outing with the new Mora 6'' hand auger, ice was 7-8 inches, good solid ice.musta cut maybe 15-20 holes and that thing cut through the ice like a hot knife through butter. i never used a hand auger before and was so surprised that this was so easy to do.hope that it stays this good.

How long ago did those of you who got new Swedish blades ask SM to send them?  I just checked my Lazer because I bought it last year as my first auger and I didn't think it cut very easy.  Sure enough the auger and blades have China on them.   I sent a email to SM tonight and am hoping they still make different augers and blades in Sweden as I would trust those or at least give the auger a second shot this season.

Someone on the post stated they actually sent him a whole new auger and all.  How long ago was that???

Thanks

My auger was 2 seasons old in Jan of this year and I called strikemaster and the gal asked for the serial number on the chinese blades I gave them to her and 4 days later I had my swedish blades free of charge in the mail.

Just called Strikemaster and they are sending me some of those Swedish blades.  Moral of the story is if you want a Swedish Strikemaster pay attention to the outside of the box so you don't pick up one made in China.  They do still have some made in Sweden so pay attention to the box.

I called yesterday and was told if it cut fine when I first got it they wont replace the blades.
My reply: then what I read online isn't true that you are replacing chinese blades with swedish blades.
SM reply: Yes we are but yours cut fine when you bought it.
My reply: well I'm not certain I am getting the same quality of service from my chinese blades as I would have gotten if they were swedish.
SM reply: name and address please.

Supposed to be on there way today.

Wish I would have known this before.
Bought a 7in Mora last year and the first hole this year the blade broke. I purchased a new blades made in Sweden and when I saw Made in China on the old blades, I started to think the dealer I bought it from scammed me, no Strikemaster did >:(. I called Strikemaster and confirmed they are made in china. I KNOW I saw an American flag on the box....Got almost a $90 into a hand auger with less than a dozen holes. What a shame that you would have to lie like THAT to sell your product. You got lucky Captspike, they didn't offer me anything.

I found this thread a little to late....I bought a new Lazer last week, upgrading from my, still very serviceable Mora.
I replaced the blades the day I bought the Mora because I knew about the Chinese scam.
I, silly me, thought the Lazer would be top of the line and would naturally have Swedish blades. WRONG
I took it out 3 days in a row....I was excited to make the first cut and it skittered around on top of the ice....huh?
My Mora never did that.
I had to exert a lot of downward pressure (6'2"...230lbs...) and it bound up in the hole twice.
I went home, did some searching around and found this thread.
Emailed SM last night with the story, waiting to hear back...they said that it would take up to 2 business days to read my email because they are so busy. Yea, right, so busy replacing the junk blades they let go out on their product.
When I had the blades off to get the serial no. I checked out how sharp they were...I could push one of them against a wooden bench and it wouldnt bite at all....the other one was good and sharp. It looks to me it might be a problem with the pitch of the blades...when I get the good ones I will do a comparison.
