Christmas in Edmonton
« on: Dec 15, 2004, 07:53 PM »
Howdy folks...I'll be flying into Edmonton from Winterpeg over Christmas and departing the 31st.  I'll be bringing some lures/jigs as I am trying to hook up with a friend to get out on the ice.  I probably won't bring any rods along due to my luck with luggage.  I may pick up a combo and case while in Edmonton.

Anyway, if someone wants to show a pseudo-Manitoban a good time on the ice, I'd appreciate it...I can only spend so much time indoors cooped up with in-laws or shopping.  We could either use this thread to make a plan or via PM.

Thanks.

23rd to 31st.  Aside from the family Christmas thing, I need to spend some time with cousins (one of whom has terminal cancer, so I probably won't have another chance to see him), and we may make a day trip out to the boss' grandmother's north of St. Paul (then again, maybe I can drop her and the kids off and check out the lakes in that direction too).

Muddler and I are heading up to Lac La Biche from the 27-31 don't know if you will be close but we could try to hook up, up there? I think LLB is about 2 hrs north of Edmonton? Bushbunny or Trevor would know for sure.

Well, with Grandma being in St. Vincent (just north of St. Paul), we may not be too far away.  How might I be able to locate you?  I'm bringing some jigs and such...would you have an extra rod along so I don't have to trust WestJet with one?

Yes, we'll be very close.  There are a couple lakes I fish just outside St.Paul....not the most productive however...

We are hoping these guys will show us there secret honey holes, being that we are not up there everyday to steal there spots. RIGHT GUYS?

I am going to be at the son's place in Ft. Mac for Christmas, leaving 23rd, and hopefully returning 26 to have the best of the season with the kids and grandkids!!  That will leave me a couple of days for fishing when I get home!!!   The guys are catching keeper wallys on Beaver, just out from Young's Beach and along the north shore by the houses.  I had heard that someone dropped their vehicle through the ice on Spencer, in 30' of water.  They came in from the south side, making it even worse!!!  I guess that Environment & the Air Force are quite savagely po'd, giving them a very short time span to recover the unit.  PM me with where you are staying and I will contact you when I get back to town and hopefully, we can at least make a day of it.

Well, I'm back in Winnipeg now...we didn't head northeast as snow was predicted and with the warm weather just before Christmas didn't feel comfortable with the road conditions in a rental.  Then I come down with a nasty cold to top it all off.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Sorry to hear man.  Too bad you missed out though....We could have used the extra set of hands for helping to bring those lunkers through.  I never seen the likes of it.  Was like we couldn't keep em off the hook if ya tried ;D  Not sure if I'll experience fishin' like that again in this lifetime :o he he
