Clearwater Classic - Affordable Option?
« on: Jan 05, 2011, 01:34 PM »
Hey guys - Curious if I can get away with this for a season or two before moving to a Vex.  I just don't have the $250 to drop on a used one.

Any thoughts?

You will be able to use it, but I wouldn't use it around anyone else. It generates too much noise and causes all kinds of problems with other nearby equipment. And I don't care what type you have, your IR will not be enough to kill the signals you'll pick up from it.

If you can keep a bit of distance between you and others it will work fine, but get close to someone else and you'll hear them start to grumble and either move away from you or ask you to move. You on the other hand will have no problem.

Trust me, I know first hand as do some others one here  :)

Yuck!  Thanks for the heads up.

I probably don't want to be that guy.

How about using an old Lowrance X65?  If I can keep the LCD warm so it doesn't freeze out.

you could die tomarrow! even Dave Ramsey would understand you getting a top of the line flasher :) If I would have known what a flasher does to fishing fun and success, I would have pulled the trigger years ago. this is no time for duct tape!!! buy the best and you will only cry once. my 2 cents ::)

That worked for me for quite a number of years.
