I'd go with a strikemaster ,I have an old jiffy that runs good .Bought a new jiffy last year and it blew up ,they wouldn't do anything for me at jiffy ,so I bought a strikemaster and love it .385.00 at dicks in warwick. Cabela's has the eskimos for 329.00 in hartford and they are also a nice machine 'my buddy just bought one.

I don't belive there is any need for a 10 inch hole in the ice  ???  If you regularly catch a fish that won't fit through a 10 inch hole then get a 10, 8 will be fine ;)  I don't have a power auger but I know a 6 inch hand auger cuts faster than a 8 ;D
Fishing is not a hobby it's a way of life!!!

I feel you made a great choice.  read your manual, set it up, fire it off before you get to the pond.  Now go the pond and have your self a ball.  lol

I have 2 different styles of tip-ups. I have the Polars that sit flat on the ice and Heritage Lakers. The Polars can fall in a 10" hole. I bought a 9" auger for my Eskimo and it works perfect for both styles.
Love those slab crappie, jumbo perch, and always love those bull sunfish. A.F.& A.M.
