I got one from cabelas, only had it for a short time. Been out in a boat with it once.
water was slightly stained, could see about 1-1/2 ft. down by eye, but with the camera depending on the clarity down at the bottom could see 4-6 + ft without a problem. Have not had a chance to use it on the ice
here in S-E Pa. yet. but will gladly let you know!

I also would like to know how good this camera works. I have been debating for about 4 yrs now to buy one and used one last year and loved it, but not this model. Can you tell me if this has the fish camera because I don't think i would care to have that. Anyone know if the fish camera lens hurts or helps you.>>>>If i was a fish i don't know if i would come up to a flourescent orange fish- ha ha

Yes, the Scout does have a "fish" camera.

Just bought one at Bass Pro played around in the kitchen seems to work good The fish camera has bluegill graphics painted on it looks a little more realistic. If you dont like it they have an Atlantis model with a camera thats just a cylinder and not shaped like a fish for the same price $200 It has many similar features but isn't desighned to look sideways or troll behind boat in summer so I went with the aqua view cant wait to get 'er wet.

Does anyone have any idea on how long the battery will last for an Aqua-Vu Scout? It's smaller than the 7Amp battery I use for my graph.

I just picked one up at Cabelas's and it says in the manual the battery will last about 4 hours of continuous use. You can hook it up to a large 12 volt battery also to get longer run time.

Would it hurt the unit if you hooked it up to a 7Amp 12 volt battery? I would think that they were fuse protected.

heres my thought on that fish cover for the lens... they come in like five different species, some of which look pretty realistic. im wondering... what if a big old pike or muskie see's it as an easy snack along his way! will they withstand the teeth... or even a hard knock if he noses it first before biting it? this could be a posibility...lol i know it sounds funny though!

My aqua-vu uses a 7 amp battery - it will last for 4-6 hours minimum w/o the lights on.
Oak - i already have had a few pickerel try to inhale my camera, and it has survived w/o a scratch...i dont know what would happen if a 20lb pike took a liking to it, though

The camera is pretty heavy duty the only thing I could see happening is a big pike might damage the cable if he bit it .My brother told me I should wire a huge treble hook to the camera so if they do hit it at least you would catch 'em
