My Cheap Homemade Camera Tripod
« on: Dec 26, 2010, 07:49 PM »
I made this tripod out of simple items you can buy for a few dollars, simply clamp the legs to the brackets screwed to the center piece, breaks down for portabilty in your bucket. Foam ball for the stopper. Smitty

I got mine last season, the 1st one got moisture behind camera lense and I thought here we go, but Cabelas stood behind it 100% and got me a new one. Used it all last season..great!! For the money, its not a bad camera. Smitty

We use that camera though I dont think the range on it is very far at all!

Did you ever try to record any thing to a camera from the underwater set up / monitor?
Next time you go to cwood let me know how many fish you didnt catch.

Hey Smitty, I think I coined that (smittysled ) name last year when I built mine. I just got the cabelas camera and was trying to figure out a common sense type of tripod. You always get a practical answer for these things. Well done again, I will try to improve on your design if possible.

That is a really cool idea.   I am going to have to build one of those for my camera.  One question, how does the ball at the top act as a stopper and not let the wire keep going thru it?  Did you just drill thru the ball and feed the wire thru?  Very neat idea and doesn't take up much room in the sled.

Kinda reminds me of the old Red Green shows  ;)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQWZUPH5JMI

by the looks of it you just need to slice into the ball half way. and it will hold it by tension. But the world famous inventor Smitty could varify this, I believe.

The world "not so famous" smitty says you are right. I tried mine today.......very pleased. Drill a hole smaller than diameter of cable, slice ball in half to the hole you drilled. Keep em' coming guys! Smitty
