Any lakes near South Holland, IL???
« on: Dec 27, 2010, 04:34 PM »
I drive from my house every Sun. Tues. and Thur. and my company puts me up in a hotel in S. Holland (I know not the best of neighborhood). I'm hoping to find a small lake close by that I can fish for a few hours in the afternoon. I drive all nite to get here in the early a.m. and wake up in the afternoon and don't leave until late at nite to go back home. Even if someone knows of a lake on the Indiana border I don't mind driving up to 20 miles. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks wilbur. Are there anywhere to buy bait close to there? Any good fish in this lake? What species?

Skinny-

Wampum is a decent 1st ice lake.  After that it can be pretty slow.  I live in Harvey.....now THAT is not the best of neighborhoods....so I fish there when I have a limited time frame since it's very close.  The closest bait shop I can think of is Angler's Outlet on 159th.

You can catch bass, crappie, gills, and northern.  I have not been there this year yet, but my brother has, and has not had too much luck.  We have caught some good sized fish there, so I know it has plenty of fish.  It's shaped like a bowl, so the deepest part of the lake (about 15 ft) is in the middle.

If you go there let me know how you do!! Good luck and go get 'em!
