Kankakee Area?
« on: Dec 22, 2010, 07:24 PM »
Hope to get out over the next week or so, are there any spots on the Kankakee river around kankakee that are solid enough to ice fish? Would also be open to any local 20-30 min public lakes that are accessable. Not looking for anyones honey hole but I usually fish alone and just looking to get out for the first time this year and stay safe. feel free to PM, thanks

You are not to far from willow slough on the Indiana side. There are a ton of public places around the Danville area if you are willing to go about 45 minutes. Kickapoo and Middle Fork are both good places. Look for lake Mingo, it is 170 acres and full of good fish. there is also a trout pond at Kickapoo and they are a blast through the ice.
