Eagle Claw rod & reel
« on: Jan 23, 2022, 08:45 AM »
Bought an Eagle Claw outfit from local hardware last season for 40 bucks. I liked that it has large eyes on the rod that don't ice up. Used it for first time this season, the reel came apart in my hands while trying to bring a good perch up. I attempted a fix at home, nut on drive shaft to spool had stripped, had to toss the reel away. Buyer beware... Never have had a reel fail after one season of use.
Fishing or going..

I have 2 Eagle claw reels that I've been using for a few years with no problems. It looks like you got one with an assembly error, probably crossthreaded the nut and it wasn't caught in the inspection or packaging. It's something that can easily happen in any high speed manufacturing.
