Calamus Question
« on: Dec 17, 2010, 03:23 AM »
I'm am going to be in that area for three days at the end of Dec, I have never been to the lake. Anybody know where a good place to set up on the lake would be (with tip ups and do some jig'n also). I would like to be there first light and it would sure be nice to have some idea where to head to instead of driving around burning daylight looking for a spot. Thanks

Buckshot or Valley View. I would not truck on that lake without good light. Calamus is a mecca of pressure ridges, river current and ice variation from wind.

Just a reminder, only atv's and snowmobile allowed on ice.  No cars or trucks.  Don't know from your post if you meant  on the road or the ice

truck

Figure of speach.  :)

Should have said = I would not walk on Calamus until there is enough light to see.

I havent been on the ice yet but I drive by almost everyday for work.  There is a pressure ridge by the face of the damn. Valleyview is always most popular place to fish. May go out sunday.

Valleyview boat ramp is probably a good bet.  Some of the flooded trees are sticking out of the water to give you a hint where to start.
Where's the ice
