I love mine.  I don't always catch on it.  Dead sticking is not always a winner for me, but at times, it outfishes my jigging.  What I do know is that if a fish actually bites the lure, it almost always gets the hook solidly set.

Good luck finding one this season.  The company is all sold out until next November, according to their website. I was on their site last week, hoping to buy a second one.

Used JawJackers for the first time recently. The JawJackers outfished the tip-ups and deadstick/jigging rods. 7 out of 10 Rainbows came on the JawJackers. The week before caught lite-biting perch on them. Made the decision, weather permitting, that JawJackers will be the first set-up put out.

It's my goal to try one this year! But after searching a few threads I think I will make my own. Some very good plans out there that don't seem to complicated.

I made about 4 different designs last year and ended up liking the simplest one. Just one of these. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/wire-rod-holder-red.aspx?a=311292 and a steel leader with one of my Triggers on it. Just adjust the length of the trigger for different sensitivities.

We've got 4 of 'em.  Awesome.  Watch their videos.  The kid trying to keep up with 6 rods and Kokanee Salmon is a riot.

Lefty, do you have some pictures of your home made units. Would love to see the design!

I deleted all the old designs but here is what I like best. Simple to make. The trigger can made longer or shorter for different size rods.

The line goes over the end of the trigger and when a fish hits it springs the rod up like the Jawjacker. THe less trigger going into the tip of the rod the more sensitive it is.

I bought a Jawjacker last season and had fun with it...here in Utah we have a two-line max, so it works well having one jigging rod and another set with the JJ.  For me a stiffer rod worked better in terms of hooking up after a hit, the weaker rods for whatever reason just didn't quite seem to do as well in actually getting a fish hooked up.  I didn't keep track but it seems like it was about 50/50 in terms of actually hookups vs. misses...about the same as dead-sticking a rod and running over to the hole when you see it getting hit probably.

50/50 is pretty good. I haven't had much of a chance with my home made setups but should have a good idea after this year.

I bought two of them last season and I love them! They are great for covering more water and putting more lines in the water to maximize your license. I love having one out while I hole hop and jig. Especially good in places where you can have multiple lines in the water.

Should you use a more aggressive action rod for these setup's? IE MED vs LIGHT weight rod?? Or can these be used with ultra-light rods?

I really like using a ML just so it has some backbone. But I've used QuickTip rod (my usual deadstick rods) and small 24" UL rods. The length is variable because you can adjust/slide to compensate for longer and shorter rods.

when i use mine for walleye i generally use 5 lb test, there have been a few break offs but i think i get more takers with less hardware on the line. do you use a wire leader for pike and bass or a flouro leader?

On my tipups I wouldn't use a wire or flouro leader, I would just have a leader of 30-40lb braid. Granted I'm not usually on Huge Pike lakes. So if I were to target them with a rod and my JawJacker I would use my pike rod (with heavier braid) or just another rod that has braid on it. The hooks usually end up on the outside of the mouth with these things so that's nice for not breaking off too. My setup in Wisconsin was using a gold Swedish pimple with a 2-3" inch drop chain on it. This gives you some extra room to keep the teeth away from the line and I feel like when you have a minnow on there - it flashes and flutters the spoon more.
