SOLSTICE SLAM
« on: Dec 14, 2010, 08:46 AM »
I'm pumped on hitting the causeway on Dec 21st and am getting PMs from others that want to go. Maybe we should rent a bus  :woot: :woot: kidding. After walking thru the water on Eaglet I'm looking forward to walking on top of the water there ;D

Anyone coming....these are big agressive fish there so be prepared. They make a short fight if you come ill equiped ;)2

I will be bringing my laker rod (That Drifter made me last year) so you can have a look at it Bill Dance. I heard your looking for one. You can even try it out if you want.

Don't forget to pack a lunch. It might be cold and you need lots of energy for the numerous battles we are sure to get out there. And I can bring some Calcium and Magnesium for muscle cramps that some will have on the way home. I will also be bringing the Cube for young lads to warm up in. Also my 10 inch auger will be used as possible to have a fish that won't make it thru 8 inch.

YEE HAAAW Fish on  :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:

And for the fisheries guys...no worries as from what I hear from many, these fish will be released after a quick photo. The thought of high levels of mercury kind of turns my stomach

Thanks TGF, wouldn't mind seeing it. Mine is all ordered but I like to see what I'm buying. I can't hardly wait to use it. Looks like when you went up north with Drifter the pole looks like it handled those fish no problem. I'm pretty pumped for next Tuesday. I'd like to feel another big fish on the end of my rod!

I never even thought about it being on the solstice... "Solstice Slam" has a nice ring to it :D

Now I just got to figure out how to pack my rod so it doesn't get broken on the flight up... because you can never be too careful with the wonderful baggage handlers   >:(  Thinking of bringing two of my reels just in case one of em craps out cause you can never be to careful. I'm definitely getting all excited and looking forward to see everyone up there!
There's always a bigger fish... and I'm going to get it!

Yes that rod really tames the big boys.

I used to treeplant and on June 21st (summer solstice) we would get up at 2 am, eat a quick breakfast, be planting by 3 am just as it was getting light, plant all day and up till you ran out of daylight about 11 pm. You made good money that day but the next day you had to take off. It was named the solstice slam so since its the winter solstice, I found it fitting.
