Greetings!....Indiana board member with a question.
« on: Dec 04, 2010, 02:27 PM »
Hello all! I'm a regular over on the Indiana board when the ice is on and wanted to pick the brain of you Wisconsin anglers. A good friend of mine has asked me if I want to head up to the Dells in mid January and do some ice fishing. He picked the Dells area because he has a Blue Green ownership and we get to stay for 4 nights in a top notch resort for little of nothing. I've been doing this Ice fishing gig for the past 30 years so I don't need specific spots or any "hold my hand" guidance if you will but what I do need is some pointers on some lakes in the area for perch and walleye. The perfect scenario would be to do like I do on Devils Lake ND, fish Walleye's at dawn and dusk and perch in between. I know Winnebago's got the perch but I'm guessing that is around an hour drive. Anything close to the Dells worth looking at? Not really wanting to sit over 7-8" perch, I'll sort those as long as the lake holds some 10-13 inchers. Not asking for much huh? ;D
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will certainly share info on Indiana if you are  ever in the need.

Thanks,
Jigmup

Check out lake wisconsin and the petenwell flowage. They are a lot closer. Would probably catch more crappie than perch though.

Good Ice fishing in the Madison area.

Mendota, Menona, and other lakes in the area are known for their perch fishing.
Little Green lake is also an ok place to start.

If it gets cold enough, Big Green lake can be fished for Lakers.
I have not done this but hear that it can be a blast.

Hope this helps,

Wiener

I don't do a lot of walleye fishing. Check out lake link for fishing reports for those lakes. Think it is lakelink.com , should be able to get roprts from there.

Thanks to everyone so far who has replied. I got some homework to do based on your posts and as the time draws nearer, I might have another question or two.

Again thanks.
