The owners may put up a fuss, but it is a public lake. Just tell them so if you get bothered. Are there people on it yet? I may take my son out there this weekend. watch out for the middle of the lake, the ice gets thin as theres a spring.

Just gave them a call, theres thin ice in the middle as usual. If you are going to access the lake, stay close to the north shore to be safe-thats where the perch are anyways.

I usually go though the front gate cost me $5 for the day and my truck and gear are safe off the road and close at hand.

thats what I do too, and they can tell you the ice conditions. but some people prefer to go to the public access.

I ended up not going onto mink. I tried star lake 6 inches of good black ice, And I tried Mayatan also 6 solid inches. Not one bite from star(not suprised I never fish for trout dont know what to use) But mayatan really suprised me, usually the camera is full of little perch but i couldnt find one anywhere. I did get to break in the new eskimo power auger though :thumbsup:my first trip out and i got skunked....thats two years in a row. :'(
