My first 2pc Ice fishing rod
« on: Nov 22, 2010, 09:30 PM »
A few season back I bought a Dave Genz 46inch ice rod, I loved that thing, it was great for fishing outdoors, but i snapped the tip and since they no longer make them I could not replace it... until this season..

while surfing the reeds site I found a 48inch Jason Mitchell meatstick. I have the original version and it is a good rod, so I decided to give this one a shot. When it arrived today I was surprised to see it came in 2pc's ... this is a first me, now for some ice

I seem to make my own 2pc rods every other season (unintentionally)

Ya and it always seems to be the one you like the best that ends up in 2 pieces. Been there, done that.
Be safe out there, and set the iron.

Icejunky, How is the spine on it? it is real stiff? I'm thinking that might be a good hole hopping rod. I love my 20 and 24inch meatsticks (god that sound awful).

Man, I was at Reeds and seen these and didn't even notice they were two pieces. You now have my attention. I wanted a longer rod but knew what would happen without a case for it. Now this changes everything.

the spine is not super stiff, i will be using it for crappies, and on the occasional walleye trip. it will be great for ripping spoons
