H.T. rod tender
« on: Nov 28, 2010, 03:39 PM »
Has any one else seen these yet? Picked one up last night. Got to play with it this afternoon. It could give the arctic warrior a run for it's money.

I just got one today the thing looks like it will work great.
For the reel I'm using a Okuma Epixor with 30# power pro
set up for pike and L.M. Bass

Why not just get a Slammer?

It's very compact, and light weight. There is a roller bar with a clip on one end that you clip your line in. Kind of like a down rigger clip. As the fish pulls the line it rolls over the pin which is tapered to release the flag, then releases the line. Very simple yet effective. No hooking the guides to pins like a Slammer. No bracket on the rod like the Arctic Warrior. And it's only $15

 walleyeboater,
I agree most times the slammer is the way to go. Love mine and wouldn't leave home without 'em. But there's times I like a "dead" rod better, one that lets the fish run a bit. The slammer is pretty versatile, but it isn't perfect all the time. Yeah it's adjustable for different rod lengths and you can run use them with an open bail or bait runner. But sometimes I just like a light weight set up I can drop any rod I own in and make it work in seconds. I've got a half dozen heavy jiggin' sticks with bait casters on that I love for fishing BIG minnows for pike with.

I have a slammer and its kind of pain sometimes with the rods I like to use. I want to pick up one or two of these HTs riggers.
