Smelt Fishing and Saltwater License
« on: Nov 19, 2010, 05:05 AM »
Anybody happen to know what affect the Saltwater Fishing license will have on the Smelt Camps this year. Am I going to be required to get one to fish the camps? or are the camps going to be able to buy a blanket license, like the charter boats can, to satisfy the requirement.

There are several variations of fees and exemptions for salt water fishing in 2011.

To answer the smelt camp question; you are all set to fish in a commercial smelt shack as long as the camps are properly registered.

Here's the complicated regulations;

So the Smelt camps will be blanket permitted to cover customers.....pretty much the same as Charter Boat captains.

I might still get a free registraion before I go......I'd hate to get popped because a Camp told me they were registered and they weren't.

as a side note, a Maine recreational fishing licence now covers you for your saltwater registration. the only fees that are going to be associated with the new laws is for a striper permit for nonresidents.
