I think it all depends on the conditions and the fish........some days they seem to work better or just as good some days they dont. I guess it also depends on the confidence you have in them jmo

I have many glow jigs that I can say they all work very effectively in the right conditions.  I found a UV Blast powdercoat that I have dipped a few of my non-glow jigs to see if it makes a difference as great as it did on open water....2 same identical jigs, including color and bait tipped, the ones with the UV Blast on them outfished the plain ones 5 to 1...

I treat glow like it was any other color, sometimes its hot and sometimes it is not. it is a go to bait color in my arsenal, but to me it is just another successfull color

I fish the Mississippi river quite a bit so VERY stained, and glow seems to work well in the stained water. Also in very low light conditions dawn, dusk, night, or very deep snow cutting out light below the ice all seems to be very good conditions for me to use glow jigs.

The Glow jigs have made a big difference for me ! The only time I don't use them is early and late in the season, when there is a lot of light in the water. I keep them in a dark box so the Glow paint doesn't burn out and I use a HT lazer light to charge them before each drop down.

I think the glow is a must.  I have been only ice fishing for about 3 seasons.  The first season I had a tough time catching fish.  I believe it was because I was using my standard colors for soft water.  I used chart, pink, white, etc.  The second season I began is use proper "ice fishing jigs", from Jamming jigs and ficious.  My catch rate went up significantly.  Perhaps I was lucky, but I don't think so.  I am usually on Lake Simcoe and most of the time the ice is cover in snow.  With all that snow covering the water underneath it makes sense that light is not passing through.  Because I only fish in the daylight, I leave my fly box open so the jigs (raps and hooks) get a charge from sun and switch jigs every 15 mins.  So far this method works for me.  The nice thing is some of the jigs glow on side and are metallic (flashy) on the other.  This gives you the best of both worlds.

Vertical... but i am mostly fishing for perch.  If you are after perch, I would recommend the small teardrop or willow shape.

I got some of those jigs with the hook at 45 degrees and may try some of them this year as well.  My dad went to Poland this summer and asked him to bring me some of those European tungsten jigs.  The quality on them are excellent, and weird geometric shapes that look cool on the drop and lift in the water.

I tend to go horizontal with jigs, although I have caught some of my best panfish on shaded teardrops....that glow
