Marcum camera...scrolling screen
« on: Nov 11, 2004, 08:58 PM »
I have a Marcum OVS 400 camera and the screen scrolls on it. Is this normal? It happens all the time. I can adjust it on the back to fix it but its a pain to do it every 5 minutes. I don't know why it does this.

I'm assuming when you say"scrolls",you mean it rolls top to bottom or vise-versa and the control you are adjusting should be the vertical-hold. I'm wondering if these monitors have some type of gain control on them---if there is an adj on the back marked GC or AGC you may try turning it (very slightly)either one way or the other(I would suggest clockwise to begin with)
Are you having this problem on the ice--the reason I ask is sometimes interference from a power source can key the vert osc section and cause that problem (maybe something in your home).
If all else fails I would think a good TV repair place may be able to give you some help.

Zach,
Give the guys at Marcum a call. I was having problems when I first started trying to tape off my OV500 (my own fault) and they were VERY helpful. I'm sure if there is an issue with the unit, they will help you out.

Actually its happening more in the boat than on the ice. It could be a problem with other power sources (trolling motor, fishfinder, ect)

Zach-you are absolutely right-it may be other power sources(trolling motor etc.) The vert circuit is easily keyed by ext interference but as Bob D. mentions it maybe worth giving the company a call and see if it should be that touchy. You may want to try it out in the country away from other interference sources first just to see what happens. It could be a bad ground connection -poss.in the coax(shielded cable) from the camera.Good luck, I hope you get your problem solved.
