Got a question.  I bought a new Vexilar FL8 off Ebay this weekend and I got it and it has a high speed/puck style transducer instead of a ice transducer.   I am getting varying opinions on whether or not they can be used for ice fishing or not.  The portable case has a flexible arm that can be used to put the transducer into the hole.  I have been reading the Vexilar website and it says that it is a versatile transducer and it is made more for your boat but it also says that it may be used for ice fishing.  It is the 19 deg. wide angle transducer.  Does anyone know for sure or have any tips on using this for ice fishing?  I am hoping possibly someone will be interested in trading me a ice transducer for this high speed/puck style one.  Thanks guys.

BTW, I went out ice fishing with Esox this weekend.  I just wanted to say that this guy was definitely an ice fishing pro. and was a great guide.  He had all the ice fishing toys someone would want.  My main goal was to catch a pike and he got me my pike.  The fishing wasnt great and the fish werent very active but we did see some nice fish swim by while we were sight fishing.  I wanted to thank him for showing me a great time on Sat.  Had a pretty funny thing happen out there on Sat.  I had a big chub on my tip up outside the ice shack while we were inside fishing.  All the sudden all of our lines inside started moving towards us but we didnt see any fish take our jigs.  He said that one of us must have a fish on so I checked my line and it wasnt mine.  He then asked if my tip up was up and I looked outside and it was.  I ran out there and pulled up on my line and I could feel some tension.  I kept pulling until I heard him yell from inside.  Apparently since my tipup line was tangled in all of our other lines I about pulled my ice fishing rod inside right through the ice.  I was pretty bummed that I didnt catch what was on the tip up.  All we got from it was 3 tangled lines and a mess on the spool of my tip up.  I definitely got addicted to sight fishing this weekend!
