Sebago Derby - Day 1
« on: Feb 20, 2010, 04:03 PM »
Some things of note from day one....

* In a group of 2 we iced 8 fish, 23" the largest
* As of 4pm the leader was 9.62lbs
* The Raymond Beach weigh in had only weighed 60 fish
* We heard that 7 people went through, including 4 people getting wet and 3 trucks
* Also heard there was a bad accident...no details
* Ice was very sketchy, mostly 6 inches, but we had to cross a nasty pressure ridge that was 2 feet of open water at the end of the day

Hope some IS members slayed and everyone stayed safe.

We had one in our party go thru about 3:30- up to his waist and then got out.  That's when we packed up and left.  The ice started going fast.  We had a wicked current under the ice, anyone else have that?

Just got back from fishin' on Sebago.  It was a beauti of a day and the FLAGS were flying. Relaxin hauled in a 5.29 lb   26 and  a half inches.   Boy was he lucky.  Was in 4th place until noon.  The company was great and fishin' with Relaxin,Dadstacklebox, CDC and  Travis,Will and Jamie was a adventure in its own.   The cracks that appeared thru -out the day had me in a life jacket and a  50ft rope in tow.    We all had a great day and  sorry to hear  that tommorrow is canceled.   But it is a great call because  all the ice was getting covered with water.     Better to be safe.    Air boat came out to ask us to leave, was gettting real bad. We was all packing up anyways, so we all made it home safe.    Hope all did.  Until next year.

Also Paul released a real nice salmon. (pictures to come soon)

Thank god no one was killed.  The fact that this thing was even allowed to start completely blows my mind still.

I wouldnt say that yet. They were looking for a snowmobiler that went through the ice when we were leaving.

I'm on the right side of the dirt/water today.
Was a great day fishing with Dads tacklebox and crew..
That chili was great Dave, almost as good as SST chili.
I did witness something that I've never seen while ice fishing....
The ATV was coming back from shore and went by me and Travis and we saw the wave...
It rolled just like a boat going by us.....
Everyone made it off the ice and all got home safe to wake up to their families..
