Get out and fish before the storm!
« on: Feb 07, 2010, 08:52 PM »
So far we are expected to get between 6" and 10" of snow on Tuesday/Tuesday night. We have been blessed with easy walking on all the lakes in Southern Michigan with little to no snow accumulation at all. Well, I for one am ready for the snow to fly! I am getting sick of riding my snowmobile back and forth on the wind drifted side of the lake.  BRING IT MOTHER NATURE!!!
You may call me crazy, but crazy catches fish!

I have started to pay more attention to the weather this year for fishing, but am wondering what is the best to get out.  Like today a good 12+ hours ahead of the storm or Tues am?   I know when the barometer starts falling the bite usually picks up, just trying to decide if I want to get out this afternoon or evening or tomorrow morning.   Have a half day to use up at work

Yea well I would like to do that but way too busy to miss both.  And if I "were" to call in the phone would be going off non stop and would be "expected" to finish what I have to get done.  But i can always try and get that done tonight from home.  But trust me that has crossed my mind on more than once today.

I went out this morning and the bite was non existent. I managed three keepers and that was it.

Fished this a.m. and ended up with 1 keeper perch and about 10 dinks. Wasn't much activity, fish held tight to the bottom and weren't too aggressive. Crazy a foot of snow is coming tomorrow and it feels like April today! Beautiful outside. Gonna try it again tonight and see if my luck changes. With the pressure beginning to drop, hopefully I have a little better luck.

I just got back from catching about 50 dinks. Biggest was about 7 in. It's still action though, better than nothing. AND the sun was out!

Just got in from the lake and what a slow bite! Caught one dink perch and threw him on a tipup but that was all. Marked a few but could also tell they were dinks. I lose alot of ambition and faith with clear skies. Tomorrow morning should pay off with the big front coming in.

I just got off the ice and had 2 flags and 2 pike. One about 24" and the other... A whopping 10"! The pressure is still holding steady, but once it starts to drop I imagine the bite will pick up.

Fishing sucked today!  Fished all day on a great gill lake, and went home with 8 keepers!  This has to change soon or i'm gonna start drinking heavily!

Fished from late morning until 5:30. Three good specks, five nice perch and 12 decent gills. Pretty slow but just enough to keep my interest. It was a nice day to be out. If it's not snowing in the morning, I'm going to hit it for a while and try everyone's theory.

Is it just me or have all the fish been right on the bottom the whole season?

I realize it's waaaay after the fact, but I was as giddy as a teenager getting ready for the prom when I went out Monday around 3pm the day before the "storm" and I got skunked my first time this year.

I was not even marking many.  Weird stuff!
