I'm thinking of fishing Salem this weekend and I was just wondering how the fishing has been? Any Eyes being caught? Any help would be appreciated.

As far as i know it has all been salmon and not much Walleye.  I usually here of some that are caught thru the ice as i know a bunch of people that fish it.
It is on the rebound though the eyes are starting to come back in there though.
You can always try Island pond i hear they are doing alright for the eyes there.

Where you refer to is known as the big hole to us that fish it. If your looking for perch its great but when you refer to eye's i'd say it is a has-been that is ten years gone by. Im sure they will come back in time but wouldn't be my first choice for walleye.

I was told that very few Walleye have been caught sense the state pulled hundreds out of there this fall.  Good to know if folks are still gettin em.  Goose

I checked on Island Pond walleye sampling earlier in the year as i've been curious about how walleye stokcing is going in the state.  In regards to 100's of walleye being taken by the state from IP,this is as accurate as the thread about the big browns being caught via electrofishing at Somerset. That is to say totally wrong by a quantity of 100's.

Maybe I was misinformed, but do you have a count of how many they took?

Look, I'm feeling a bit like the bad guy who shot the horse pulling the bullcrap wagon.  I just want to be the guy who let a bit of air out of the tires.
