Something Different - Huron Bay Whitefish Anybody?
« on: Jan 10, 2010, 01:49 PM »
I'm always up for something different when it comes to ice fishing.  Personally, I've never really gone after whitefish through the ice.  I've caught them yes but never really targeted them and would like to figure it out.  Is anybody interest in making a run to Huron Bay over the next weekend or two and trying?  Unless K-Bay locks up over the next little bit, I see this as the only option in the short run.

Should be plenty of people on huron over the next few weeks and don't be afraid to stop by shacks to try and get some info. Most will try to help out if they can.

You can access Huron Bay in a few places. Off the A-Frame down from the Trading Post, off the Park, and off Witz's Marina. You don't need a snowmobile or anything but it's nice to have. Don't go out there with one yet though there's only 1.5-4 inches in most places that I've heard of, I'll check it out this week though and tell ya how it is since I live right here in Skanee.

12 fish in 5 hours, sounds like the bit is on. I hope they were the big ones and not the 7-12 in ones.

Any current ice reports? Is it still holding up good? I would imagine it will be great by this weekend.

Any reports lately on huron bay? Never fished it before but it seems fun. How about lake trout fishing there?
