Sharp Spear

Do you guys sharpen your own spear? Or do you have someone do it for you.

I sharpen my own and touch up the barbs once a year and I always use a guard for transportation.

sharpen my own. medium file followed by a coarse stone.   checked after each shot. never a bent barb. fixed on the ice.  in the decoy box i keep a small kit including a big flat screwdriver, file, stone, small chisel and mini ball peen hammer.  leatherman on my belt.  a dull spear is like a dull knife or broadhead, almost useless.
