Tacheeda lakes
« on: Jan 15, 2010, 02:35 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone has ice fished at these lakes, and if so how it was?? My brother ans me are planning on heading out next weekend, and trying to decide where to go. figure the ice might be a little better if we head north.

Hey Chris would you be interested in going into Spanish Lake that's the one on the way to Quesnel Lake. I wouldn't mind catching some dollies. Its supposed to be cooler next week in Likely. Let me know.

You have to sled in all the way from the highway as the road is not plowed.  And I wouldn't go on the lake with your sled right now - a friend was out a few days ago and said there was over a foot of slush under the snow, they barely got their machines off the lake and had to park on shore and walk out.  Didn't have a lot of time to fish after fighting with the machines...

I was talking to the guy that's doing the fish count at Norman lake on Saturday and he was saying that he specializes in lake trout counting and told me that they gill netted both lakes and caught 1 small laker in 4 days fishing there. His exact words were "If you're going fishing for kokanee, their is lots but if you're going fishing for lakers I wouldn't waste my time."

Yep its good ice but burbot is very slow according to my grandsons who fish it every day and that somebody was pulling your leg. We live right by battleship and no lakers coming out of here. But have heard they are catching a few big ones in lakes up the Leo ;)
