BIGHORN LAKE SOUTH END
« on: Dec 26, 2009, 12:38 AM »
JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WITH THE HARDWATER REPORTS SO FAR THIS YEAR!  I'M NEW HERE, BUT THOUGHT YOU OTHER ICE JUNKIES MIGHT WANT TO KNOW THAT BARRY'S LANDING ON BIGHORN LAKE IS 100% COMPLETELY OPEN WATER!!  YET, HORSHOE BEND IN WYOMING HAS 13" OF SOLID ICE.  FISHED THERE THIS AFTERNOON AND MY FATHER-IN-LAW CAUGHT A 9# WALLEYE.   ALSO, A 2 & 3 POUNDER OFF THE RAMP.  COLD AS HECK BUT WORTH IT FOR THE FIRST TRIP OUT.  IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE ICEFISHES BIGHORN LAKE, POST YOUR REPORTS, WOULD LOVE TO HERE HOW OTHERS ARE DOING.

SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO REPLY AS I WAS UP AT FORT PECK OVER THE NEW YEAR.  WE USED TIPUPS AND PRESERVED MINNOWS.  I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SUCCESS WITH PRESERVED MINNOWS ON WALLEYE UNTIL THIS TRIP.  THEY WERE THE KIND YOU BUY AT WALMART 2-2.5" PRESERVED SHINERS.  WE'D HAVE USED LIVE MINNOWS, BUT WYOMING'S PRETTY PICKY ABOUT WHERE YOU GET YOUR MINNOWS AND THE COUNTRY STORE IN LOVELL DIDN'T HAVE ANY SO WE WENT WITH THE PRESERVED ONES.  I CAN ONLY GUESS HOW WE'D HAVE DONE WITH LIVE MINNOWS.  HOPE THIS HELPS.
