Catch Covers
« on: Jan 06, 2010, 10:42 PM »
Does anyone know were I can buy Catch Covers for the holes in my shack?  I ordered them from the Fish house supply shop online and they said they only ship to 6 midwestern states.  The only ones I can find are on ebay or catch cover online for like 7 or 8 bucks more each because of the shipping!  I hadn't seen them in any stores around bangor area either.

I bought one for my shack from Cabelas in Scarborough last year.  I saw them there a week or so ago.  They don't have the
sleeves that go in them though.  The covers do work good though.

couldn't find them online at cabelas so I will probably have to get them on ebay or catchcover.com  I was just down there a few days before christmas and didn't get to go to cabelas.

I don't have a hardside anymore, but a friend of mine made his own and they work great.  Cut the bottom out of a five gallon bucket.  For a 'gasket', cut a hole in a square piece of rubber or vinyl (so the bucket fits into it snugly) and set the whole thing into the open hatch in the shack.  As long as your shack isn't jack up too much, the open end of the bucket should set right on the surface of the ice.  It's adjustable because nothing is fixed to the floor.  No draft and very little ice up in your jig hole.  Just an idea...
