Obviously its still a lil too early in the season for driving on the ice!!! Always wondered who has the balls to drive on the ice first! FAIL!!!
Funny thing is, just last week, the fire departments, were practicing ice rescues/recovery directly on the other side of the lake!

Hopefully they're alright though, tough break!

Last year was the first year that I did not drive out first on the lake we fish. I looked pretty funny with all the windows down and a life preserver on. I have kids now and do not have a little S-10 anymore, so those days are done. I would always spend the day before drilling holes all the way out to where I was going to pull the shack. I would no sooner get to my spot when people are driving their massive Suburbans and full size pickups out. Then they end up parking right on top of me. Some people just have no common sense.

I heard about this from a guy I was talking to out on the ice.

I was just out on Altoona this afternoon around 4, scoping things out so I can get my shack out there tomorrow. There were all kinds of full size trucks and SUVs out there. I even saw a Jeep pull up to a full-size van in the middle of the lake to jump it. The guy I was talking to had 11 inches of ice under him.

I haven't yet decided if I will be driving my Escape out when I put my shack down tomorrow, but I'm getting it on the ice either way.

I was fishing Altoona Friday afternoon and there were vehicles driving all over.  Out in the Middle there was a bunch of permanent shacks with trucks and suvs parked right next to them all in one area.  I talked to a guy and we figured that some idiot would go through on the weekend and sure enough it happened.   Maybe this will keep some of the yahoos from driving on for a while but I doubt it.
