Got out but........

   Finally got on the ice for an hour or so after work yesderday.  For starters I forgot my scooper,  man that water is cold.  Well I only drilled a couple holes and marked some fish on the vex but no takers.  Left my smokes in the truck so I put the rods in a bucket holder and ran to get them.  Get back and bucket is over and line is snapped  that is my big report. Any word on Sandusky bay for friday???

at least you got out. hope all the bugs are worked out and the next time things will go your way. my first time out every year always has some kind of glitch in it. (except this year i hope).

   Much better today,  still was in a rush and had to hand scoop agian but I think I'll live.  Iced 3 bass 14"-16" and had one break off. (all c+r)  Great time the ice was so clear you could see them fighting under the ice.  The topper was just before it got too dark had a hit and when I set the hook there was no give, 2lb line , worked it as best as I could and got a 30" catfish right to the hole before he broke me off. Hope the snow in the forecast does'nt screw up the bigger ponds from freezing good I'm warmed up and ready to go!!!

Man i am so jealous, nothing better than cats through the ice. I checked my dad's half acre pond tonight, it had about 3 1/2 inches on it, kind of slushy on top, but hard underneath, planning on hitting a neighboring pond if it's good enough tomorrow, if not i'll just fish my dad's. Planning on getting chill gill and Ice cube to go with me.

Let's go boys, bubba gills are waiting.

Ice cube, chill gill and myself, managed to find some ice today, not much ice, but good enough, we caught over 100 blue gills that weren't worth anything. We were fishing little farm ponds, they were the only thing with good ice on 'em, but we had fun.

Can't wait to get on some bigger ponds after this weekend's cool down.

OK OK ! Enough of the rain already. Zanesville area has had over 1'' of rain in the last 24hrs.
Today however it is cooling down so it should be good ice starting into the weekend.
   Good job Blue Mule! Sounds like you had a good day catching or almost catching them .
Big Cat ,Chill Gill and myself went to different ponds. Some of the ponds we were not allowed to get on yet per the owner. They felt that the ice was not thick enough so they would not let us go> The good news is that we will be allowed to go soon.
  Today I will finish my Christmas shopping since the rain has messed things up.

Northwest Ohio,  Swanton is where I found the good ice.  Looks like with the forecast temps here after the week-end everything will be locked in.  I've got all of next week off.  The question now is how much time with the muzzleloader and how much on the ice???  Maybe hunt all day fish all night??  Doubt the wife and kids will go for that though.  Good luck.

sounds like a good plan to me swantucky,

i wouldn't mind trying some night fishing next week if some bigger ponds lock up down here. And deer hunting in the afternoons.

   The ice on my pond got wierd after the snow...slushy under the snow.  My kids wanted to go out but I did'nt want to take any chances so I went bowhunting for a couple of afternoons and muzzleloader today.  My 8 yr. old and I got a doe today with the smokepole.  Has anyone else had their ice go to heck with the snow?  I wonder if it is the pressure pushing water up?
