well I just got home from the hospital to the tune of a half dozen voice mails "we ice fishing this weekend or what?" and my answer is that I will be, you all can risk it. Just stopped at Leisure lake and threw out a 10 pound rock, it broke the ice but didn't break through. I'm gonna roughly call it 1.25 to 1.5 inch. The rain did nothing to the ice that already existed, just made the top layer of ice white, but solid white, not that march white of late ice. I told pikepopper that I'm gonna pack the bibs and boots in the car for tomorrow and head to Emerald. Here's me praying knowing that if the coves made it, they should be safe enough, we are all chomping the bit, me more than annone cause it is the only deal I made with the wife before the babies that I can escape to go icefishing.Till Tomorrow guys.Anybody else actually checking out ice thickness or are we all just driving by lakes waiting to see some other idiot to be out there?Dr. JM
Up here in the way NE, alot of the smaller impoundments are skimmed over with at least 1" or more...as far as the State lakes out in Wayne county, its gonna be a bit longer...two weeks per say til I get on my home away from home....To the person who asked about Prompton, I'll pass a mesage around to see if I can get you and info...til then, they are calling here for 4-6" snow...maybe turning into rain..hi's around 35-37 deg. but the rest of the 10 day looks very promising
