i have taken a wilderness first responder course and we learned about the cold water drowning stuff.  apparently it lowers you down to a state like hibernation.  where all your vitals decrease and you are stabilized.  i'm sure you might have some other long term affects.  the body works in mysterious ways.

There is a saying that a person isnt dead until their warm and dead.  The cold seems to do wonders on the body.

LT or anyone else are there any updates to this story. I have read about doctors using controlled body cooling to give them more time to preform some surgeries. I pray this child makes a full recovery from this event .
