Pac Shack here as well.   very light back pack easy to transport. extremely comfortable chair. all in general good for lots of walking not to mention is small and heats up quick    con  is a bit on the light side so if I do get out of it I just rest my auger handle on it or put my lure box on the seat.

I bought a Comfort Zone 2 man shanty 4 years ago. Very light but the sled that comes with it is only 3 inches high and it plows when pulling thru the snow. SO....I got a Jet sled that if its real cold and a shanty is needed it will get strapped to the Jet sled. Its easy to set-up and take down and with the propane Dyna-flow heater in it I stay warm.
NEVER lied about the size of the fish I caught.....just remember them being BIGGER!!

does anybody have the shappell 2.5 flip over shelter.  and of so do you like it?
Jiggerman, I didn't know they had a 2.5 or is that a typo? My buddy has a Rover 2.0 and it gives you plenty of room but it is heavy. I think they list it at 85#'s without anything in it. As long as the ice is clear with little snow you are alright. If you got to pull it through heavy snow you better have help. Other than that it's well made and very functional.  Lou

Frabill Ranger Solo...

Nice oversized one man flip over.  A little on the heavy side when loaded  down.  I usually back the pick-up to the boat ramp and slide the fully loaded shanty down a 2x8" ramp to the ground.  Loading back up is the same, just push/slide it back up the ramp into the truck bed.

I added a couple conduit "transport" runners for the long pulls out to the fishing grounds.

Hopefully will be able to get out this year.  Last year ended up spending the winter renovating my son's new home. (kitchen, bathrooms, etc.)

I also have a Frabill Ranger Solo, a one man flip over, but I bought and extra modular seat and two can jig comfortably ...little heavy dragging when she loaded down and there is snow cover but the "hump" is only 200 ft from the boat ramp! Gotta get some exercise for that gut bustin breakfast on the ice... can you smell the bacon?

Fish Trap Guide, 2006 model i think. I take it out when i fish with a buddy(most of the time), but i like all the room to myself on occasion. It is a bit awkward to get out of the truck by myself though. I use a wheeler ramp, it gets the job done, i could only afford one shanty.

I have a Shappell Rover 2.0 .  I think it is a good shanty and I am still young enough to pull the weight- but that is why I bought a 2 seater so who ever is going fishing in my shanty can pull it. Ha

sport masterson, have fun taking it down and setting it up every time you want to move, i know they are light and all but seem like a pain in the butt to set up and take down every time. and you have to anchor them every time. so those reasons are why i got clam 2000 instead.

I have a shappell 3000 DX . It is a monster of a shack alone but it is what I use most of the time.    In deeper snow I pull out the little viking (wal-mart)  I have an HT pop up tent also which is o.k. , but more often than not that one stays home

Just bought a Clam Base Camp Thermal, hope to get to try it out soon.  Hoping it keeps the woman warm enough so she keeps ice fishing with me.

We have the same challenges here in Indiana as far as pulling by hand most/all of the time.  I have both a FT Scout and FT Yukon (for when the bride goes with me).  Scout is a bit smaller than I prefer, but it's light when it comes to pulling.  The Yukon is a bit heavier and we have to watch what we pack in it, but my wife likes to exercise and wants to take her turn at pulling, so no biggie.

I looked long and hard at the Pro before buying the Scout, but didn't want to mess with those buttons on the extendable poles.  With Clam's new RPS system, I'm slightly dissapointed that I didn't go ahead and buy one.

I built an ice fishing hut out of wood and polytarp from plans I got off the web.Best 50 bucks I ever spent. Sides fold up and down for transport.I only use it on ice without heavy snow, and where i have close access to the lakeside via boat ramp etc.Shacks are nice on cold, windy days, and makes fishing more tolerable in those conditions. It looks like a mailbox when set up.I leave it at home on warmer days or when there is heavy snow. There is nothing like gliding around a fresh frozen lake or when there is no snow, but I haven't seen a shack yet that pulled easily thru snow or over land.

I got the Fish Trap Scout as a Christmas present from my wife last year, and I don't know what i did with out it. It was so nice to go out on a day that was bitter cold and windy, That along with my Vex and a small heater. It is nice and only weighs 50lbs empty, and about 250lbs when you load all of the crap you have into it. No you don't need all of it, but it all fits in one sled.

My wife purchesed me the otter medium, from Minnesota; plenty of room, 2 man with a bech seat attachment that flips up to get at your gear; floats up to 600 pounds; it pulls hard in slush or heavy snow, looking to adapt ski runners under it to lift it up for that condition. Perfect for a 2 man mission.
