PICK ME!  PICK ME!  PICK ME!

Actually I'll be spending more time in the Anchorage area this winter so perhaps we could puch a hole or two together.

I am getting my gear ready. Cabin is up, not finished, but dried in and heated. New ice house and auger ready. Snowmachines almost ready. First trip planned for the first weekend in Dec.

Another one hanging out waiting for freeze up!  Hard to believe the forecast is calling for possible 60 degree temps eh?  No ice so far!

It did this to me before. Last weekend in Sept and I go to the lake. 4 inches of snow and ice forming on the edges, so I pull my boat. Then it gets warm again and I don't want to have to rewinterize it again. Next year, I will leave it for 2 more weeks.

Another one here waiting for freeze up. Looking forward to some Lake trout fishing throught the ice. Hoping to go shoot a caribou out of bethel when the Kusko freezes up solid. Heck, it might be christmas before that happens. With the warm temps forecasted I might have to continue fishing the kenai and late season Silvers for another month.

I pulled my boat back 3 weeks ago. (*&%# it.

Did you try flatlining? I would believe that the fish would be in 20 FOW near flats of 2-6 FOW running up and grabbing lunch.

I have learned on LL that if you are interested in catching bigger fish, go where you don't catch small fish.

we tried shallow flats....on the north end of the lake/ cliff bay area but no success. also fished around eagle island and the flats around there, picked up one small fish in 15 fow there....lodge guys told us go deep...as for topography that lake is very strange, and dangerous. that is one lake i will never run full throttle.

I run it at full throttle all the time. 34 MPH or so. It does take a bit of time to get used to it. By Bird Island there are some VERY shallow spots/rocks that were sticking out 3-7 weeks ago. I almost left a skid mark on them. Never shortcut between Bird Island and the 3 north of it in a boat. Don't hug the west shore north of Larsen Bay unless you know where the sand bar is. I had alot of people changing props/hitting bottom out front this year.

PM me your email and I will send you a better map.

I have never caught a fish within a mile of Cliff Bay. Not my idea of good structure for lakers. I know a couple guys that fish it, but they live there and know it intimately.

What guys at what lodge told you to go deep? Did you have a fish finder? Did it show them deep? I am trying to learn the ways of the lake and this is contrary to what I have learned.

Mike

I left all my gear at the lake. If anyone decides to drill a hole in the Anchorage area, and would like company, please yell. I may not get out until the weekend after Thanksgiving to get my gear.
