Boat
« on: Nov 02, 2009, 05:51 PM »
Just took the boat out of the water today  :( . Two weeks ago lost a very nice brown trolling a chartruse spinner ( 1/6 ) . Bring on the ice  : :) I'm hoping to catch a few trout on this particular pond this winter. If not there are a lot of quality bass.

Hi Shadfish,

Well I noticed you mentioned a big brown...seeing that you're from Salem and assuming you're fishing local...My guess would be Cobbetts? If not...there are other places with Browns but not too many have bigger ones ;D ;)

I think it's some kind of association that does it.

There are others here who may be able to confirm if this is true, But....I used to have a friend who lived on the lake, rumor then had it that it used to get stocked by a private guy/association as well as the state...At one point the lake had no real public acess so the state stopped stocking...With the limited access/fishing...some of the trout grew bigger....

I could be wrong, though that is what I heard from a couple locals...?

It;s the assoc on the lake who does the stocking. F&G will not match funds or stock there anymore, they stop putting in for it about 10 years ago i think it was. They don;t do that much stocking but enough to give the people who live on the lake a chance.

They did not stock this year from what I was told, my buddy lives on the water and usually pitches in but no calls this year asking him yet??????

I think your right, F&G have not stock there in years, I think it was about the same time when the flap over Canobie Lake being stock without puplic excess.
