Lake Mendota-Madison "the grade"
« on: Dec 05, 2009, 08:42 PM »
Many years ago my Dad did quite a bit of ice fishing for Bluegills at an area he referred to as "the grade" on Lake Mendota. It wasn't unusual for him to bring home a few fish each trip over 1 lb. Over the years he got 2 or 3 actual 2 pound fish. I haven't been up that way in many years and I don't know what area of the lake is known as "the grade". I do know it was shallow (2'-4') and had weeds. I was just looking at the lake map on the WI DNR website, but didn't find what I was looking for. I'd like to make at least one trip there this season. I'll owe you a beer if anyone can help me out.......
