Does anyone spear for northern on lake Superior? I live in Wisconsin and that is the only place in the state whare it is legal to spear them.  It is something I would like to try if I knew whare to go.

Nope I don't spear up that way, but if I where you I would maybe think about going into one of the lakes in the UP and just get a out of state one day license for Michigan and there are plenty of good lakes by the border of Wisconsin and Michigan that have huge pike and Muskie. GOOD LUCK

Yah, I just looked at a map the UP isnt as far as I had thought.  I have never been there before.
What is the deepest water you set up in? I was thinking about four feet would be about the max but some people say as deep as ten feet>

It's pretty simple to answer that one just find out how clear the water is cause if it's kind muddy than you need to be in shallower water but if it's clear then yes go with 10ft cause the more water there is the better chance your decoy will be seen. I would say 10ft max 6ft minimum should do the job just fine for ya. Make sure you take a good look at all the posts on this Spearing forum cause all the advice you could ever need is on here from some long time vets of the sport  ;)2 but feel free to ask any question you need answered  ;D .

The spearing and netting regulations say that you can spear rough fish anywhere you want but the only place you can spear northern is on lake Superior, which might change they are trying to get northern spearing legalized on Green bay as well. The only other place you are allowed to spear game fish in Wisconsin in sturgeon on the lake winnabago system.
