Lowrance iFinder H2O C !!!
« on: Mar 01, 2009, 06:07 PM »
WOOHOOOOO  ;D !!!!  Finally sold enough of my old gear to buy the H2O C with Hotspots card. Can't wait till it gets here....hopefully Wednesday

Anyone out there have one of these already ? Got any tips that the book don't tell ya...? Are any of the other map cards better than Hotspots or are they all relatively the same ?

Never heard of it? I just upgraded from an x67c to a LMS 522 which holds SD map cards. Is it a fish finder?

Lowrance hand held GPS.

I don't have the color, but you're gonna love it. My map card is the Navionics and it is the cat's a$$ for following contours, finding drop off edges, etc.

I just got one of those too.  I bought the Fishing Hotspots card at Cabela's in East Hartford CT. last week.  I was at the Big E for their outdoor show and ran into a Lowrance Rep, and he told me th Fishing Hotspot software was the one to buy, rather than the mapping CD.  I'm going to give it a try at the Schroon Lake Tourney this weekend.  Let me know what you think after Wednesday.

Sweet....I hope it's as good as I think it will be. I did a lot of GPS soul searching to finally decide on the H2O C. I was real close to buying the Expedition but the cost didn't justify the unit. I'll keep ya posted how it works out. Thanks all for the positive reinforcement that I bought the right unit.  :)

Need some help here with my new H20C.  I'm confused about mapping software.  I bought the unit strictly for fishing lakes like Canadarago, Sacandaga Res., Oneida, Delta and the St. Lawrence.  My interest is contour maps of those lakes that I can have in my H20C, but not sure what would be best.  Any recommendations?

Confused too on the "Map Create" software - what does it do?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks!

I love mine, I have the lakemaster chip.
2 pcs of sound avice: #1 buy a screen protector, the clear plastic stick on kind. The screens scratch EASY
#2 buy GOOD lithium batteries, they last much longer and more importantly they lock in position faster. Do not use recharchable batteries for any gps. To work properly your gps requires 3volts. Recharchables are only 1.25 volts X 2 batteries = only 2.5 volts.
    Good luck, enjoy your H20

I talked to a Lowrance rep at the Big E Sportsman Show last weekend.  I aksed him if he owned an H2OC, what would he buy.  He told me to stay away from the MapCreate Software.  Much too much on there for the average GPS user.  If fishing is your thing, he told me to buy the Fishing Hot Spots.  I did just that at Cabela's and it really looks great.  I will be trying it out this weekend.  Also, Cabela's has a sale now and the Fishing Hot Spots is $44.  I paid $99 at the store.

Thanks!

Love my H2oC!! I use the Navionics Premium charts and find them quite efficient. One of the nice thing about Navionics charts is you can trade them in each year for the newest versions and they give you $100.00 off the new card. Regular price is 149.00, so you can have the latest greatest software for $50.00. The unit comes with a ciggarette adapter so you can plug into your quad/snowmobile saving on the batteries..

Thanks guys, but I finally opted for the "Fishing Hotspots" chip.  I think I liked the price the best.  Cabela's was out of them and the word out is Lowrance isn't too quick to re-supply, but I did find one at Boatfix.com for $65.  They had a couple more left and I got it in 2 days.

Played with the thing for quite a while, now the full capabilities are finally being realized.  I'm able to map out some of the narrow channels that I like to drift in mid summer for pike on the St. Lawrence.  Also used it this weekend to mark some ice fishing holes.  My only gripe, although it does contain the contour maps of most lakes I fish, there are a couple I fish that aren't there.  I wish I was able to compare side by side with the Navionics charts, I think Navionics has detailed maps of a lot more NY State maps.

Agree too, the batteries get eaten up quite quickly, especially with the backlight on.  I can see the cigarette lighter adapter is going to come in handy with boat use.
