yesterday at pawtuckaway
« on: Mar 01, 2009, 11:05 AM »
hit the ice around 6 am and already found fishing in progress.......bubba frye and his buddy bruce were hard at work tending flags........moved down from their spot and set up 24 for a long day of fishing......the wind was constant, but the sun was shining and we had a great place to get out of the wind.....mrs. heater cooked up some breakfast and salmon seekers babe cooked up a great pot of beefstew, which was matched up with some grilled roastbeef, swiss, and onion sandwiches.......it all really hit the spot......anyways, the fishing was active from 6 till 10 and died off around noon.....the flags picked up in the afternoon and the bigger fish started showing their faces later in the day.......the smallie action was non stop most of the  day and produced some great runners......mrs heater took the lunker smallie pool with a 2lb 9 ounce, salmon seekers bride (who needs a screen name soon) took the lunker largie with a 4lb 1 ounce (last fish of the day) and the lunker pickeral at 3 pounds......yours truely landed a number of smallies and largies, but really no size....my hook up ratio was tight though....(personal plug).......here's a look at the day.......

also got my buddy adam out for the first time this year......i would like to thank salmon seeker for letting him use your quad throughout the day......it made the whole experience a bit more enjoyable for him.....he really loved the ride in.......adam had his chance for a lunker early, but came off on the way in......

salmon seekers chunk of the day and also the couple display their lunker 4lb 1 ounce largie.....

Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

decent day huh, Jibbs?  we gotta hook up and get out there together, now that its picking up again.  Id love to get out there with you guys, maybe nextweekend, although im thinking saturday maybe Kingston then hall the shack off if not before then,  fished kingston for a bit yesterday morn 4 flags, 2 gd runners, no fish though.  Then again for a few hours this morning with Mr. stevens and his boys.  3 bass no size, 1 1/2 and some pick and perch.  But maybe we can get out together once more on Patuckaway, i nd to know this spot. lol.  But i wanna hit Long pond in Danville again, and possibly Mirror lake.  maybe even Baxter.  who knows but were gonna start losing ice fast here the next couple weeks, well have to go a little north.
By the way you have the Model 30 Jiffy right.  10 inch.  Mr. stevens's auger isnt running all as good as hed like to see it and i was wondering if yours cuts slow, or if you have replaced your blades?
ok ttyl.
If you aint workin youd better be fishin!

Nice.  Beats trudging through 2 feet of snow.  That's more than I can say for this coming weekend lol  ::)
it should condense down over the  week......could make for tough going in the lakes region, but we should be fine down here.......i will send you a pm about next saturday  if you and keith are interested.......

Hey Jibbs,
nice seeing you and your crew on Sat. In our group of 4, we landed 45 bass with a strong surge of smallies. My biggest was a 3.25 lb smallie. My buddy Bruce landed one largie over 4 lbs.

It was definitely a Grade A day with some good grillin' too. Had venison sausage, house steak tips, bratwurst, and hot dogs (and a very full belly by the end of the day - Amen to the 4-wheeler.. LOL)..

My buddy Jim Peake and 5 other guys went on Sunday and between the 6 of them they only landed a handfull. So I would say we hit the best of the 2 days.

So was the F&G C.O. nice to you guys? He was quick with us and appeared to be quick with your group, but he sure spent a long time with a group across from us... They started packing up after he left them.. Doh!!!

How long did you stay out??

Anyway, attaching some pics from our day including from another buddy's 13 year old who had never caught a smallmouth before..

he seemed nice to me.........basically asked if we were keeping fish, how many traps, and license and registration sticker......he was more intrigued with the nissan that was doing doughnuts on the ice.....

Funny, we were right around the corner from you guys near the island and F+G never came over to us.  We had a nice fire going (it was off the ice on some rocks we piled up) and we were also laughing at the guy in the toyota doing donuts....

I've gotta say, Pawtuckaway has some quality bass, we didn't catch many but the 2 times I've been there, we've managed to pull out a 4+ LMB every time...I'll be back this sunday most likely in the same spot

I'll take a sled over and introduce myself to Jibbs and the gang, maybe I can learn a thing or two from the obvious Bass masters on hard water!

powder blue jacket...she has really improved her fishing skills over the last two years......bassranger tweaked her hookset a bit and she is not missing as many......we usually alternate flags, so its pretty much luck of the draw.....we usually have 5 licenses on the ice, so we are able to put out quite a spread.......we usually run 24, but sometimes go to 30......its not to bad to tend to them when you have that many people and few quads....this is mrs. heater on phillips last spring.....

I think Ms. Heater should join the club this year give us a little more competition. I can picture it now by the second tourny she'll have you fishing off the back of your own boat. You'll be sitting back with your feet up on the motor eating your lunch staring of into space ;D
If I'm not fishing then I'm not happy
