Just wondering what the most popular/successful colors/patterns for jigs are for perch/panfish...

I think it mostly depends on the body of water. Clear/stained/muddy/bright day - good light penetration/cloudy,overcast day - poor light penetration, all are going to have an effect on which colors are most productive. It is going to depend too on the mood of the fish. Very active and aggressive, they may hit any color. Neutral mood and they may only hit colors which closely match the main forage at the moment, or it may take a very bright color to get them to bite.

Agreed, that on some lakes it makes no difference and there may be a color or two that out produce others no matter.

Experiment to find out if there is a color pattern going on on the lake(s) you fish.

It's the color that your catching them on at that time. Change till you find the one.

I would have to agree with scavengerj on that one...........everythi ng depends on the color of the water of the available food the fish are feeding on.........usually perch arent that picky when coming to lure color but the crappie, walleye, and other panfish may have second thoughts about some random color they have never seen before

Completly depends on the water as said above, for example 2 lakes i fish a ot are both connected, both have same type of water as far as clarity and structure and the likes and one lake the best colours i found are yellows and greens...the other lake, white and red and pinks are better  ??? I just start with the colour that works most of the time for me, then if nothing i switch it up til i find one they like that particular day

The big reason I take so many rods all ridged up different. Some days color makes a big difference, some days not.

I probably catch the most on natural colors, mainly dark green patterns. But there are a lot of times they want white, gold, silver, chartreuse ...
Always stock up on the entire spectrum!

While I agree all colors need to be tried, the majority of my jigs I use fall into 5 general color schemes.  It should also be said that 90% of the time I am using a horizontal jig, either a wolfram or a marmooska.

chartreuse/green

yellow/orange

pink/white

black

gold

Thanks for the tips.  There are thousands of colors/patterns/sizes/shapes of jigs out there and I would like to have a nice arsenal of variety to cover various conditions without taking out a loan, haha.
Thanks again.
