Long Lake 1-24-09
« on: Jan 24, 2009, 03:20 PM »
Had a great time on Long Lake today with about 30 others as we were part of the Pike Tourney that the new bait shop was running. When we left about 2pm, there were no legal pike caught. A couple short ones were landed. Someone caught a 4lb 14 oz largemouth and someone else a big dog fish. Here's a pic of Garret wtih a nice 13 inch crappie!

Here's one of Dakota with a decent perch..

Here's my little crappie...

John and Vicky from the Baitshop did a great job with the tourney. They even delivered cheese burgers and sausages to us out on the lake!!!

A great time and can't wait til Feb. 7th.

No the next Valpo Chain Tourney is not next weekend but the following on Saturday Feb. 7th. It is multi-species tourney.  Looks like we are going to have a good times with it. Each category will have $50 prize plus an equal division of the entry fees. It's an approved tourney on here. We are also trying to support a Homeless Vets group, so please bring a canned good to pass along. Did anybody hear if a legal sized pike was caught yesterday afternoon on Long? I had to leave at 2pm and wondered if anyone got lucky.

Here are the details:

unfortunately there were no legal size northern caught, would`ve rather given the prize money out.thought for sure with 100 tip-ups in a little area would`ve seen some nice ones.some folks had a nice mess of panfish though.thats o.k. though we always have feb. 7 should be a little better on three different lakes.thanks to all who voluntered there time, and to all who participated in the derby.the derby`s hopefully will get smoother as time goes on.any questions on the feb. 7 derby call 219-548-2248
