I have built a few in the past.... The best advice I can give you is to make sure to take wet/snow conditions into account.  Make sure you have decent clearance from the ice to the actual sled and make sure the ski's will move smoothly. The first one I ever built (many years ago) was only six inches off the ice and the box itself dragged alot of snow :-\.  Live and Learn... Good Luck with it ;)

No way.  Thats a good idea I just don't see how an 18V drill, a Ryobi at that, can drill 6-8 holes.  How long does it take per hole?

I built a sled last year to tow behind my ATV, the ski's were made out of 2x8 boards with the front curved up like a snow ski. It worked great until derby time when the ice was covered with 6 inches of slush. I picked up a pair of water ski's at a yard sale this summer and attached them to the wood ski's it is working great but we haven't had the slush yet this year.

a pair of old skis works great...go to a yard sale and you will pay no more than 10-20 bucks for an old pair and they slide like nothing else.

I used a heavy duty plastic pickup truck bed box for a sled.  I mounted skis to 2x4 blocking and then to the box.  Eye bolts on the sides enable me to bungee the auger to the top.  It can take a beating, is weatherproof, and will protect things from getting full of snow.  It also doubles as a card table / food prep area.  It's kind of heavy when loaded.  You would want a machine for this one.

i would give it a try, at what point are you haveing a problem?
go to the help fourum and look for the post about picture posting.
im no computer guru however with a little banter i think you could learn, this is how i learned not two long ago.
basicly walk you threw it and ask questions while you try it and analise what your doing wrong, others jump in and help out.
and the task gets done.
just takes a time when were both online for a spell .

Nice one!!
I am human. I am a predator. Don't ask me why I'm staring down a hole, waiting for a fish to bite. Its instinctive and I refuse to fight it.
