Man, I wish I could get in on this, but I live so far away. Sounds like it's going to be a great time, I'll be waiting to see some pictures of this event. Good luck guys and girls, I hope the weather works out good for you.
Be safe out there, and set the iron.

Get me the dates and I'll see if I can swing the time off. I'll try to get my buddy Mark to come as well.

Have fun folks! Simon's put together a great weekend with a couple nice lakes to go to and a great cabin. Good job. I'm a little jealous.  ;)

Neither of those weekends work for me as I'll be in Mexico the first weekend and celebrating a friends birthday in the States on the weekend in Feb. If anything changes, I'll let you guys know.

Jan. 24/25 works for me. I'll be in Thunder Bay on business on Feb. 7/8.
Any other dates just let me know. I am in Toronto next weekend but just about any other weekend could work for me.
Later,
Glen

Ok guys,

so far....its Snakehunter, Brkygetr, BenBeattie and myself, Hopefully a few of our friends can make it....Glen....get Mark in on this too!

I am sending out PMs to everyone who expressed an interest as a last call to sign up, but it pretty much looks like thats the final count.

I am gonna call Donnely's camp, as i assume that we are gonna stay the night there on Lake Keikewabik.

I am gonna call them on Thursday to book it to give everyone the chance to sign up who wants to, as i have just realized that my inbox was full so folks might not have been able to reply to my previous PMs.

i'll post the itinerary and final list of participants first thing Friday morning.

the weather forecast has taken a change for the worse unfortunately for our dates...its looking like -17 on saturday....and minus 21 on Sunday....but that can and has changed before....so fingers crossed.

Simon,
Is it the 24th and 25th?
I'll let Mark know. I am pretty sure he is up for it.
My snowmobile should be ready this week so I am good to go.
Should that weekend not work out for everyone I am up for a trip to Big Sandy anyway. Let me know.
Later,
Glen

Hi All,

Ok....its done.

Here's the deal for the meet up.

As i understand it the numbers are as follows.

Snakehunter, BenBeattie, brkygetr, LEWFISH and myself. Snakehunter and Benbeattie will have 4 guests between them possibly. So we're looking at a party of around 9 or 10.

I have booked a cabin for the first days fishing on Lake Keikewabik, the cabin is owned by Donnelly's Camp.

The Plan will be to meet up at Donnelly's Camp between 10am and 11am on Saturday 24th January and make our way to the cabin and catch the evening walleye bite.

The next morning, Sunday 25th, we should aim to go back to Donnelly's camp by 8am, meeting there again with anyone who did not stay the night at the cabin, unless of course those people know Big Sandy lake and will make their own way there for the second days action.

If you want to bring your own bait that could work, if you want me to pick it up let me know in advance.

I've not fished Keikewabik before, and will just be bringing minnows. I have fished Big sandy before and medium to small minnows worked for both the largest of the trout and witefish, but maybe make sure you have some large spoons/williams/cleos etc....as they worked tipped with minnows. I might get a few large sucker minnows to try, but did not have much luck with those on Big Sandy last year.

Any questions please PM me ASAP.

its gonna be nukinfutz.....cant wait.

Simon

Ok Guys...

Called the camp for final details this morning(Tuesday)

Its a 25 minute sled ride in, so a full tank in the sleds will do fine.

The fire might be started before we get there, however it might not, but there is fire wood there.

There is solar or propane heating for lights, there is a generator we can fire up, but Darrel says we wont need too.

THERE IS NO RUNNING WATER!!! we need to collect some lake water.

BECAUSE NO WATER WE ARE NOT TO USE THE INSIDE WASHROOMS....we're gonna have to take our business outside BRRRRRRR (bring a spare toilet roll.)

There are 5 bunk beds.....WE NEED TO BRING A SLEEPING BAG!

WE TAKE OUR GARBAGE WITH US THE NEXT MORNING

The cabin is spotless according to the owner, he wants it left that way.

All the dishes, cooking utensils, cutlery are there.

Cooking is gas stove.

Hope that answers any questions you all might have.

Both the trails into the cabin, and from the main camp to Big Sandy Lake are good according to the camp owner.

We aint gonna have much time on Keikewabik, so if everyone can get to the camp by 10 am that would be best, we could be on the lake by midday that way.

ITS SOUNDS PRETTY BASIC...BUT FOR $25 per person...I aint complaining :)

Our group for the Saturday is brkygetr, Snakehunter and his buddy Mark, LEWFISH, and myself.

brkygetr(dale) says he will sort out cooking in the evening, so I will bring eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Just need somebody to bring some smokies and stuff so we can build a fire the next afternoon and cook some for lunch.

Bring yer own water/pop (beer?)

Benbeattie will be joining us the next day, I still have to confirm where and when he wants to join us/meet . I have invited a summer fishing buddy and his son for the next day so there might be 9 of us out there.

I think that covers it...like I said, I am gonna just work on the logistics of meeting the first morning today, so I will be in contact by pm with everyone.

Cheers

Simon
